چکیده

We study the quantum gravitational effects in spherically symmetric black hole spacetimes. The effective quantum spacetime felt by a point-like test mass is constructed by “renormalization group improving” the Schwarzschild metric. The key ingredient is the running Newton constant which is obtained from the exact evolution equation for the effective average action. The conformal structure of the quantum spacetime depends on its ADM-mass M and it is similar to that of the classical Reissner-Nordström black hole. For M larger [email protected] [email protected]

Non-Singular Black Holes, the Cosmological Constant and Asymptotic Safety

Quantum gravitational effects in black hole spacetimes with a cosmological constant Λ are considered. The effective quantum spacetimes for the black holes are constructed by taking into account the renormalization group improvement of classical solutions obtained in the framework of Unimodular Gravity (a theory which is identical to General Relativity at a classical level). This allows us to av...

Ricci Nilsoliton Black Holes

We follow a constructive approach and find higher-dimensional black holes with Ricci nilsoliton horizons. The spacetimes are solutions to Einstein’s equation with a negative cosmological constant and generalises therefore, anti-de Sitter black hole spacetimes. The approach combines a work by Lauret – which relate so-called Ricci nilsolitons and Einstein solvmanifolds – and an earlier work by th...

Maximal Hypersurfaces in Asymptotically Stationary Spacetimes

Existence of maximal hypersurfaces and of foliations by maximal hypersurfaces is proven in two classes of asymptotically flat spacetimes which possess a one parameter group of isometries whose orbits are timelike “near infinity”. The first class consists of strongly causal asymptotically flat spacetimes which contain no “black hole or white hole” (but may contain “ergoregions” where the Killing...

An Introduction to Local Black Hole Horizons in the 3+1 Approach to General Relativity

We present an introduction to dynamical trapping horizons as quasi-local models for black hole horizons, from the perspective of an Initial Value Problem approach to the construction of generic black hole spacetimes. We focus on the geometric and structural properties of these horizons aiming, as a main application, at the numerical evolution and analysis of black hole spacetimes in astrophysic...

Astrophysical implications of the Asymptotic Safety Scenario in Quantum Gravity

In recent years it has emerged that the high energy behavior of gravity could be governed by an ultraviolet non-Gaussian fixed point of the (dimensionless) Newton’s constant, whose behavior at high energy is thus antiscreened. This phenomenon has several astrophysical implications. In particular in this article recent works on renormalization group improved cosmologies based upon a renormalizat...
